I don't have any experience with either, but what I can tell you is that a good slug gun is a combination of the firearm and the ammunition. Whatever you choose, each individual shotgun will have its favorite ammo. Start off cheap and work your way up on ammo. I am lucky in that my two slug guns, a Remmie 1100 smoothbore and a rifled-barrel Mossy 500 both shoot inexpensive 2 3/4" shells very accurately. Don't feel you NEED 3" ( you definately don't need 3.5") and don't feel you NEED sabots. When I hit a nice fat doe with my Wally World Greenbox slugs, the effect is devastating.

I regularly read reports from guys who tested 10 different slugs to get the best possible performance and the subtext is that they probably spent over $200 in ammo getting there. Most slug guns are death-rays at 50 yards and get progressively less effective after that. Some go 100 yards. A few can go 200. When I'm shooting slugs, I pick my venues so that I am shooting within the effective range of the gun and the ammo. I started off life as a bowhunter so I do not feel all that limited with a slug gun.
