Last season I was using the slate alot..sounded more subtle..the loud calling did nothing last year for me in this area.

Are you going to continue with that,or mix it up?

All depends on this season...Went out to Flying Eagle this morning for some early scouting. No gobbling, but saw many gobbler tracks in some areas. Bumped 3 deer and a little fox. Did not call this morning or even hoot or crow, just walked around looking and listening.

I'm still waiting on some new calls to come in.I'm going to use a box call a little more this season.Mainly because the place that I hunt the most in Fl is close to the interstate, and is very loud.

I have taken to putting out a selection of calls on the shooting table on the front porch as I first get up. By the time I'm ready to head out, the calls have absorbed enough of the surrounding atmosphere and reached ambient temperature that I can then make a decision.
I never know what will work, but I can at least know what won't work. Here are some observations:
Humid weather and rain: wooden pegs are out. Unprotected box calls are out. Acryillic and carbon pegs on glass and aluminum will work. Slate will work in humid weather, but not foggy or rainy. Put box calls in a sealed plastic bag if you don't want to wreck them for days. Take them out when you get home and store them in a dry place away from direct air flow and heat.
Dry with no clouds: Anything goes.
In between: At some point hickory and purple heart pegs all stop producing. Humidity is the culprit.
What will produce on a turkey? I've never been able to look at the thermometer, the clouds, and the weather report and say. I pick a couple friction calls for how they sound to me and go for it.

I like the slate the best...and when the wind picks up, I like the more high pitched and shrill aluminum.
