Has anyone had any experience with the Spypoint Game Camers 3mp version, thinking of buying one tomorrow.

Did you ever buy it?

I find good quality commercial trail cams downright expensive, so I just built my own. It really is NOT as hard as you might think. I built mine with a Sony P32 (3.2 mega-pixels) that I got on Ebay for $30. Whitetail Supply sells all the other hardware you need to put together a professional trail cam for far less than it would cost you to go out & buy one. My trail cam ended up costing me about $100 for materials & camera, & I can always take the camera out of the case & use it as a regular digital camera if I want. The Sony P32 has a small LCD display on the back so I can get instant gratification by looking at whatever pictures were captured by the trail cam right out in the field. It also uses standard Sony Memory Stick cards, so it's just a matter of swapping out the memory cards each time I check my camera in the field. I suggest anyone who feels the least bit handy to try & make their own digital trail cam. Here is a couple of pictures of my setup.

Nice work. Are you starting to see anything show up yet on your cam?

I am going to setup a bear bait pile this weekend. The camera will spend it's Summer vacation there :) . I will post any interesting pictures I capture.

Hi Dave,
Yes, my homemade trail cam is exceeding my expectations. We have had terrible wet weather here in Eastern Ontario, & the camera has stayed nice & dry. I have had several black bears visit my bait. Here are a couple of shots taken day & night.
Regards,
George
