Well gang, the time is almost here again! What pattern are you planning on heading into the woods with this year? There are some new patterns out by the big name guys, and some old favorites that still are getting it done.Which one(s) fits your hunting situation the best?

Wanna shoot a fall turkey w/ the bow this year so I will be in the blind quite a bit, so I'll be wearing black shirt and gloves. In GA I will wear the TrueBlend Camo (I used to sell it and have a shipload laying around the house; its a pine tree pattern camo) Shot the first practice arrow this afternoon outta the new bow. Cant hardly wait, since I did not archery hunt last year!!

Practicing is my favorite part of archery. There's something about the walk back and forth to and from the target gives way to many interesting thoughts in each and every session. Usually it depends on how good you are shooting at that time!:D

Gonna hunt in Jumper Creek (God help me!!) for about 3-4 days. I pulled the archery Flying Eagle quota for 9/27/08-9/30/08. I'm pumped for September to roll around more than ever. ;)

I'm not giving up on "The Swamp". I have unsettled business there.Worst case scenario,I want to paint the trees with wood duck feathers from sign in box to the river! The only thing that kept me from going insane listening for gobbles, was the sound of Mullet heads flying in and splashing down.

Im just gonna wear my walmart camo and my asat camo. been hunting jumper creek the last two years and have only managed to harvest a small hog. Im hoping this will be my year for my first buck, but who knows. Ive seen lots of turkey, almost got a shot off on one today. Ive seen lots of does too, but no bucks but theyre in there somewhere.

Welcome to the forum!
Whare are you from? I hunt Jumper Creek quite often, as does another member on here, Tim. It's cool to have some local guys pop up on here!

That's a good place to learn the trade because it is hard hunting in there. If you can find success there, it will make you ten times better when you go somewhere else that isn't as difficult. The key with the Kettle Island side is to pay attention and sit tight close to lunchtime,as I have seen many deer and hogs feeding while I was heading out after turkey hunting.
You may benifit during Muzz. or gun season there,as when the other hunters are ramming around and going out for lunch, you might get that spooked deer trying to creep through and get away from them, and you can let the lead fly. Good luck and hunt safe!

Theres plenty of turkey out there, I almost had a shot on a gobbler the other day scouting. I had my bow drawn back and everything, just didnt get the shot i was looking for. Thats ok though I put that stand near where i saw him and near an old rub from last year. Its just off a wide hidden trail going through some thick palmetos with some openings in it and a dry cypress swamp behind me. Im Hoping the deer are bedding down in the palms. Thats where i kicked two turkeys up, didnt see the other one. I Have permits for muzz and gun. Dont have a muzz though. Do you know when the bucks will start rubbing in jumper creek, i heard it wasnt until near the end of archery. What camo pattern are you using? Have you heard of the dk flatwoods? If so what do you think? Also Im thinking about going spring turkey hunting next year for the first time. If your gonna be down there and dont mind showing me the ropes a little id appreciate it. Thanx
P.S. I have lots of other questions about down there and using deer calls cause they dont seem to work for me, but i dont wanna get off topic on this post, so should i start a new one or is it alright.

DK Flatwoods is a fantastic pattern. It's what I wear. Jerry's archery in Ocala sells it,and Pat's Pawn and gun in Leesburg will sell it soon. It is good in a host of situations, not just palmetto swamps. If you visit my Myspace, there are some pics of it.I'll be dove hunting in it this weekend and will have some more put up in an assortment of cover. Visit their website and see the full line. If you have any questions about their stuff let me know.
Feel free to start a new post,so it shows up as a deer question, and some of the other Pros, and members can get in and mix it up as well.

Ive been wanting to get the dk since i seen it in the woods and water mag. I went to gander mountain today and looked for it there but they didnt have it. I picked up an owl call though and a turkey diaphram thing.

I just ordered the dk flatwoods camo from their web site. I went with the mesh suit and plan to order the bow hunters jacket soon. This seems like a really nice pattern. All my other camo is a lot darker.

Good deal. Gander is still ironing out the details of getting DK in there. My pics are up from Opening day of dove season on Myspace, and you can see what it looks like in some real world Fl. situations. Please stop by and check it out.
Thanks for Choosing DK!
