Anyone use the rage broadheads? Looking to go expandable this season. I'm going w/ the rage or nap spitfires:cool:

Those Rage's are pretty awesome. My only complaint is that the practice "dummy" broadheads are so hard to get a hold of. One comes with the pack, but it is hard to test a batch of arrows with only one dummy.I like to hand select six arrows to hunt with that are as close matched with the same set-up as possible.

Palmetto,

I have never used the rage broadheads but I am seeing a lot of press about them. (petersons bowhunting, bowhunter mag, etc.) Personally I use the NAP spitfire 100s. I have hunted both mule deer and turkeys with them so far no complaints. They seem to group better than the Muzzy 100's I also tried.

I will be using the NAP spitfire 100's on my antelope hunt next month I hope to have some more information for you after that:D

I used the Rage broadheads last year and it blew a hole in my buck he bled out in 3 seconds. Caught both lungs and nipped off the bottom of his heart. Huge hole on entry, no exit hole as it hit the far leg.
I'm no pro hunter (that buck was my first) but I do know physics. The Rage are fully deployed upon hitting the hide on the way IN. Over the tops can not possibly be fully deployed until they're already inside the animal. It gives me confidence anyhow. Plus, they're huge when opened and fly like a fieldtip. I didn't move my close range pins at all when I put on the rage practice tips. (I lowered the 35 yard pin a smidge) Regarding extra tips: had to get em on Ebay. couldn't find em in a store.
NOW also in NYS, any barbed broadhead is illegal. When removing the broadhead from flesh, it cannot be barbed (ruining meat, etc) . The 2 blade RAGE when removed from flesh, go back to their initial state of non-barb. The 3 blade RAGE do not easily go back to non-barb position when being removed from flesh. Check your state's laws regarding that.
SO, I'm amateur, not on anyone's payroll, paid 39.99 for my 3 packs, and will fluff Rage broadheads to anyone who'll listen. PLUS, local stores Dick's and Gander Mtn. were out of 'em last year one week into the season.
That's all,
Z

Thanks for the good review. I'm still undecided at this point but leaning towards the rage 2-blade. Between work, the rain, and kids. I finally got my 10, 20, and 30 yard pin set. Will be popping strings very soon in September!!:D

Personally I prefer a fixed blade broadhead(less parts to fail = less chance anything will go wrong). I used rage broadheads last year because of all of the hooplah surrounding them and in about a month of trying them I was back to my fixed blades, the rages kept popping open and thats no good in my book. I also am not endorsing anyones broadheads but my best luck and overall performance has been with NAP Crossfires.

Well I went with the Rage 2-blade 100 grain head for this season. I will post back a review if I get the chance to loose an arrow this season. Shot the practice point and it flies true to a field tip. I'm bringing all the the rage to da swamp in Jumper Creek...look out!!!

Last minute change up to keep folks thinking at the creek...Will be sporting the NAP Spitfires......Hopefully the swamp be in shades of red. I will call you Chad to get the insider lowdown soon. Going to head over there within few weeks and take a bike ride..Hows the roads? Under water?

Not under water,on the driving roads. The foot path is a nightmare. The early wood duck season will be off the chain if it stays like that!!
