I am loving my new Alpha Burly's as well. I want a pair of the new Redhead knee high rubber snake boots though, but Bass Pro doesn't have any in stock!

I have a pair of Lacrosse bowhunter boots that I bought in the early 90's. They've been on every early season hunt since. Those replaced some rubber stable boots that I'd warn since the early 80's.
Once the temperature dips down I switch to a set of insulated LLBean Maine Boots or a set of Browning Insulated leather 12" boots. The latter seem to keep me a bit warmer on the treestand.

I got those Cabelas expedition hunters.
They're like wearing comfy sneakers in a rubber boot.
I ended up hiking mile after mile in them in the Smokies this past Spring and climbed some pretty steep slopes. No feet trouble whatsoever.
I have 800 g Thinsulate models and and contemplated a noninsulated pair for this year but bought a gun instead and will use the old boots for early season.

I bought a pair of lacrosse snake boots the year before last, not sure of the model. Its says hyper dry on them and water proof. They are far from it. My feet get soaked sometimes walking through the nasty stuff. Sometimes they rub my anckles raw, or two inches above my ankle. My buddy told me to buy them big, not sure if this is why it does it or just the way i stuff my pants down in them. Ill definately be in the market for a new pair for next year.

I own three pairs of Redhead boots and they all have performed great. Their very comfortable as well....I also own two pairs of Rocky's that are ok, although it seems their quality has been lacking in recent years. Last I have a pair of Irish Setters that I am very happy with and yes I have more hunting boots than my wife has shoes!!LOL

Lacrosse Burly boots all seasons......
Not the Alpha, the originalburly with the light polymeric foam insulation. Wear them all deer season until it gets below 20 degrees or so. Wear them all turkey season, lightweight, waterproof, comfortable.
I'm on my 3rd pair, get 8 or 9 seasons out of each. $60 all day, everyday.
I'd like to try the muckboots but they are pricey and my brother in law has destroyed three pair and finally wrote them off. The neoprene just isn't durable for the no holds barred hunting we do.

I tried out some "Silent Stalker" or whatever they are called from Field and Stream with 1000 or 1200 grams of Thinsulate and GoreTex....Well one season and they have failed me on so many levels. First my feet started getting cold around 20 F....about 40+ degrees warmer than some of the temps I will be Hunting in over the next several months. Than on Saturday I go to lace them up and on the last buckle that you swing your laces around...POP! Off Flies the dang lace buckle.
They were getting pretty beat up for one season and I was gong to get some Pac boots or some Rubber boots anyways. One for the Warmth (Pac) and the other for Complete Scent Elemination (Rubber).
So I went out and bought a Rubber Pac Boot made by Husqvarna. Yeah Yeah it is not a hunting boot, and I don't plan on stalking in these (Even though they are pretty light..I could do it if I needed to!), They are my "Holy Crap its -20F Out!" boots. Doesn't hurt that they are Chainsaw proof either...Don't plan on these failing me. My Dad has had his for 11 years and they don't have one crack or nothing in them...They look Brand Spanking New..Took His Advice and got them this Morning (After Trying his on last night)!
The only Problem right now is that they are Bright Orange!...Going to go Home and give it the Meanest Camo Paint Job Husqvarna could ever Imagine!
I will Post a before and After....And I feel good that for $107.00 I will be good in the most Brutal Cold Weather and won't break these! Nice and Warm Plus Scent Free...AHHHHHH...I feel GOOD about this purchase.:)
Post Later on this one!:D

Do these boots have any support inside?

They look like some rugged boots. Just wanted to clarify that the site i seen them on say they are chainsaw "resistant" Don't want some numnuts on here chopping their foot off. Looking forward to the before and after pics.

Chad these boots are really comfortable, and yes they are not chainsaw proof, but if the chainsaw kicks on you, it does have the ability to save your foot, toes, and leg (Well at least where the boot is!)! I just got them this morning, I got them with a thick wool liner, and I have not field tested them yet.
My Dad, who has a really bad back, and has had multiple reconstructive knee surgerys, walked over 5 miles in them on Saturday and said he couldn't have been more comfortable.....Hearing that and putting his on last night, I was sold....having my toes freeze up again this morning in my broken boots also pushed me to get the rubber pac boots.
I will get back to you on how well they perform over the next week. I will be doing a lot of sitting towards the end of the week when it is supposed to rain and snow, but I plan on putting about 10 miles on them this week so I will have plenty to say about them after that. I have 2 more mornings and 3 full days before the end of rifle season...if I still haven't got that Bruiser I am chasing it is time to break out the muzzle loader! (Watch Out ) hahaha
I will post by the end of the week, new paint job and all!!!!

Well since I got my boots I have put them through a rigorous field testing. As Promised I am going to post the paint job, just finished them up tonight, after a miserable day in the pouring rain with crazy winds. I have put about 7 miles or so on them, so far they are very comfortable and offer good support. They are extremely warm and having a removable wool liner allows them to dry even if water gets inside....This has not happened to me due to the fact that my Sitka ColdFront Pants go over them and they are completely water proof just like the boots. I am very pleased with the purchase and know that the only thing that I can break on them are the laces. :)
It will take a few posts to show off the original compared to the final camo job so here it goes...Hope you enjoy! I am still going to do some stencil work (Just need to decide what Patterns I want to make into stencils...Leaves, Branches, etc.), as of right now it is all reverse stencil work done with Krylon Fusion Camouflage Spray Paint. I used a mixture of grasses, branches, and other foliage with a distant spray. When the stencils go on it should get rid of any spray bomb look and tie the whole thing together.
I can post the whole process if anyone is interested...In case they want to do a similar thing to any of their hunting hear...guns, tree stands, game cameras, etc.
Happy Hunting!:D

Sorry the lighting of the Final Pics is a little dark, but I think you can see it clear enough. I may have gone just a tad dark for a mid to late season boot in Maine, but it will work fine in the woods. I will go with more Khaki and Olive Green colors for the Stencil Work.
Hope you think they are as cool as I do!:D

I hope they work out for you. Is that your workshop in the background? Looks like a sweet place to grind recoil pads...

That is my Dad's Shop...We do a lot of interesting projects there, everything from Restoring Antique Cars and Fire Engines to Painting and Building Remote Control Airplanes and Helicopters along with many other fun work. He has a really nice paint room with good ventilation and Temp Control so it made it the ideal place to work. It is our BIG Play Shop!
Yeah they smell like spray paint but today was the last day of Deer Season (Rifles) and guess what....Rain, Snow, and 20+ mph winds. Had to pull out the Pac boots and OOOOPS! Paint job ruined! They had not finished drying!
I am cool with it though, I am going to start over, going to do them starting from dark and working to light colors. This should provide me with a much better end result. I will be creating Stencils digitally and will supply them to anyone who wants them. All you will have to do is print and cut out the areas indicated and start spraying!
I will post my next paint job. Oh yeah and I am switching to a much better paint. Will Post all the details when finished!
Happy Hunting!

I think they came out pretty nice Tyson. What's the new paint that your switching to? how did you prep the boots? Did you rough them up at all? I would think you would need a latex base paint so it could move with the material, but I dunno how it would hold up to the elements. maybe a latex paint with a good matte sealer finish coat?
Dark to light is the way to do it from what I've read. I've been doing a lot of research on airbrushing. I've been wanting to get into making silicone spfx masks along with custom airbrushing cars, computer cases and what not. Just as a hobby/interst.
The first mask is gonna be an inbred hillbilly, gotta scare off some people at the wma, getting to crowded.
Ill post a link of what im aiming for when I get back to the house.

Tyson,
You prob could have gotten away with using those boots the original style, with no paint. The buck may have stopped just to check those snazzy boots out, and allowed you to get a shot or two off!:p

These are going to be not only my mid to late season deer hunting boot but mostly my coyote and other predator boot. I really need the most camo I can have on for those keen skidish animals! I will post the next paint job...I think you guys will think it is the bomb....and like I said before, I will offer anyone who wants free stencils the opportunity to get them via email.

Took out a lot of the Hard Edges and ruffed up the outside with a steel brush so the paint would stick really well. Used a really light Camo Paint Pattern (Had Custom Paint made to the specs I waned in a 3 Color Pattern in Ultra Flat) to work with the Grey Scales, even though Coyotes can see Yellow and Blue...Which means that the Orange boots would have appeared to be Bright Yellow to them and stuck out like a sore thumb! Anyways here it goes, Hope you guys dig it!
