Hey Perry, congrats of taking a nice buck! Shotgun or ML? I ended up having to put my tag on a wounded spiker that some road hunter shot the lower jaw off. It walked by my stand, & I just couldn't bear to see it suffering. Had my tag reserved for a big 12 point I knew was lurking in my Uncle's 300 acres. Oh well there's always next year. I know he survived the hunting season because my Uncle saw him a couple of weeks ago. I just hope he survives the long, cold, Canadian Winter. I'll have to search for his sheds in the Spring. I've got to go out on a yote cleaning mission there soon ;) . I called in a nice song dog @ my other Aunt's abandoned farm last Wed. but hesitated on the shot, & missed the opportunity. Oh well at least I didn't spook him, & he should still be around for next time.

Just remember the spike will taste the same as the 12, and you might feel better over the course of the year!:o
Nice self pic

Yeah I know your right Trophy, but I usually like to let the spikes grow up a little before I harvest them :D . There was no question about putting this little guy out of his misery. After looking at his wound, he would have died a slow death by thirst. Poor little bugger wouldn't have been able to eat or drink, but was not bleeding out. I actually heard the shot from the road hunter, but they left before I could get out to the road & talk to them. In Ontario it is against the law to shoot from or across a road  . I'm sure they heard my shot, & decided it was best to leave the scene.

Roadhunters make me sick, but for Pete's sake, at least kill the animal since you have a nice resting shot!
