I visit archerytalk.com all the time and the owner of Starrflight, Paul Morris, was running a lottery X-mas give away thread---if your username was chosen, you got a tube full of 12 FOBS free shipped to the house. Well, for the first time in my life, I got got lucky and the mailman delivered the fobs this morning. Went out to the shed and got a arrow and striped the feathers off and took off the nock and slipped on the fob and placed the nock back into the arrow. Only takes probably 15 seconds to install the fob. I shoot a Bear Archery Truth bow w/ a ripcord fall-away arrow rest. Prior to letting the first fob fly, I checked to ensure that the fob was gonna clear the arrow shelf, containment bar ect....all looked okay. Only got to shoot about 10 arrows today and my max distance is 35 yards in my backyard, but the fobs flew as good or better than my feathers. I was shooting 100 gr. field points on Beman ISC Hunters. First impresssion is good for the fob, but I need more time to shoot broadheads, longer distances to make sure I want to join the "Fob Mob"

I will try to get some pics up tommorrow.

Well, shot a 3 arrow group this evening @ 30 yards w/ the fobs. All arrows hit 5 inches to the right. I think my rest moved on me, will have to french tune the rest and sight tomorrow to make all is good again. Hopefully will get some pics up soon. Have not gave up on the fobs ye:confused: t!

Bummer dude. I hope you get it going good. I was wondering the other day about if the arrows with the fobs would fit into the quiver alright or not.

Photo during the walkback tuning--think this was at 10 yards. (not recommended to shoot groups w/ the fobs because will knovk pf the fobs) Actually my sight came loose and was causing me the misses the other day. Thats a 4 inch white circle...gonna shoot some 30 yard groups tommorrow w/ the fobs and see what they can do. Remember, I'm not a natural archer by any means.

Okay, finally got to shoot some 30 yard groups w/ the FOBS. I was shooting a Beman ICS Hunter arrow w/ a 100 gr. field tip; Fobs shoot as well as the feathers. The fobs are suposed to really shine shooting large fixed broadheads, will have to try some old muzzys out next time. I'm going to keep shooting them and use this spring during turkey season. The cons that I have read on other forums is that the fob pops off the arrow when walking thru heavy brush and that they are noisy. I did not think that they were any noiser than the feathers. Jury is still out on these fobs.

Looks good to me! Do they fit in your quiver alright? Do the fobs slide up and down on the arrows?

Do they make a model that isn't so bright? A quiver full of those things could replace your flashlight for the walk in in the a.m.

No issues w/ the fob equiped arrows fitting into my Kwickee quiver. The FOB actually slides onto the arrow shaft and the nock holds the FOB in place. I won these for free from the company and these are the colors they sent me. I heard the hot pink FOBS are all the rage!!:p

I personally think that the normal fletchings look better. I will keep shooting them and see over time if its something I will buy down the road.

Back to shooting FOBS again and experimenting. A friend at work gave me a box of old very large broadheads that looked like junk. I screwed one of the biggest and mangled head on to my Beman Hunter arrow and shot just to see if the FOB could fly this old large head like all the hype claims over on AT. To my suprise, if flew and the POI was only 1/2 inch if that.

I'm gonna keep trying to shoot these FOBS....they do alter your anchor and the FOB does touch your face. Since I hate fletching arrows so much, I will keep shooting and will continue to evaluate.

Right on dude. How many grains are them fobs? they lighter or heavier than standard vanes? Dam sure does beat fletching arrows every couple days.

If you dont want those FOBS Paul (and you can find them) I will buy them..PM me a price:)

I personally dont believe half on any evaluations done by folks on the internet with any product. I would rather use the product and make my own conclusions.

My only conerns w/ the FOBS are you have to wrap your arrows so you can find them eaiser since the FOB pops off. Also, I'm concerned about the FOBS coming off the arrow while walking around the woods in thick brush ect.

I'm having no issues w/ rest clearance or arrow flight and was impressed w/ the fixed broadheads I shot the other day. Only time will tell I reckon

I think I have two tubes of them somewhere, I could not stand them contacting my face and wasn't about to change my anchor to use them.

A guy on Mathews' forum did a bunch of testing with all sorts of fletching and the FOBs and they didn't fare too well. I think his username was gjcarcher, pretty good stuff if you can find it.

Did you shoot them very much? Some folks have a strong reaction to different. Most folks that have a problem with Anchor I recommend to just deal with it (blunt I know). Usually after a few days of shooting you do not even know the FOB is there and it will act as a kisser button. For some however it may not work (usually target shooters who tend to bury the FOB in the face).

re: Mathews forum test.....He did a great job for sure. Only problem was he was using arrows with uni-bushings and g-nocks which the FOBs are not designed. Over the years I have found the biggest problem with FOBs are rests that drop too quickly. Folks that shoot Limb driver rest mostly say the FOBs shoot flatter than vanes. After a lot of testing we came up with a solution. It is called a Rest-Rocket. Holds a convention rest up about 4 inches or arrow travel. Testing shows FOB drop out is gone.

Turns out the FOB is much more sensitive to initial arrow position so if the tip of the arrow drops slights before it leaves the bow, the FOB drops out.

Any questions I am here to help.

Regards,

Paul

Got the bow down and dusted off this past weekend..have not shot since probably November 2009. Might hunt only w/ the FOBS this archery season. I have been tinkering w/ the fobs for almost 1 1/2 years but still have not put them thru the paces of actual hunting in the woods. My only concern is the fob falling off the arrow while walking thru heavy brush in the woods? Also, being able to find the arrow and fob after a pass thru will be interesting. I might go with some bright colored arrow wraps for easier arrow recovery.

As far as flight and tuning, I have had no issues and they fly like a dart even with oversized fixed broadheads. I'm shooting a ripcord rest and Beman ICS Hunters.

I'm sticking w/ Blazers....Did some broadhead shooting using Beman Hunter arrows and 100 grain ABC Sonic....FOB was all over the place. They are not worth the headache..Blazers provided great broadhead flight.

**Update: My football clip on my ripcord rest had came loose and I was having contact issues--all set up again and the FOBS are dead-on. Have decided to put the FOBS in the opening line-up for this archery season

******UPDATE************

After countless hours of testing w/ FOBS, I have finally found out that the FOBS are chit!

Here are my final closing thoughts:

1). They look gay
2). They are loud (louder than feathers)
3). Cant shoot groups
4). They break easy
5). Arrow drop out @ 40 yards and beyond
6). After a pass thru, good luck on finding the FOB and your $10+ arrow
7). Your friends will think you are gay for shooting FOBS...

Sorry Paul Morris....its da troof!!

I'm like a fob-whore....found some older arrows in my shed and put some fobs on them....i'm running low on arrows, so if I run out of blazer-fletched arrows, then at least I got the fobs in da house...just have to aim a few inches higher on the unsuspecting game animal of my choice

Thumbs up to the fobs....I have not shot my bow since early November of 2010, but this cooler weather motivated me to sling a few arrows this afternoon. Thought I was going to spray arrows, but shot some nice tight 20 yard groups. Shooting in the summer months here in Florida is something I dont like to do or look forward to due to the hot weather, humidity, thunder storms and lighting. Looking forward to stalking some hogs w/ FlHunter23 this fall. As for now, time to go fishing.
