What did you put in for? I put in about 2 weeks late this year. for gun I put Jumper, flying eagle, then halfmoon. for muzz I think I put the same. I nailed gen gun and struck out on muzz.
my buddy put in a week late for gen gun and muzz for flying eagle, halfmoon, jumper creek, then hopkins prairie and got drawn hopkins prairie for both. Did they make them non transferable this year! also I heard something about buying a deer stamp?

The permits are non transferable this year. Your allowed to bring one guest that you have to get a gest permit for. Also there are preference points if you didnt get drawn during the first phase, guess it makes you chances better next year.

Tim,

Bummer on the quota draw brother. I got lucky this year. I drew a mid jan. Green Swamp west hunt, Ocala Church Lake Still hunt, Hilochee archery and Lake Marion Creek muzzleloader. I guess I had the golden horse shoe this year.

Hey scott. Have you spent much time out there in church lake? I archery hunted out there two years in a row. I know a spot out there that had lots of scrapes in a small area. We never could catch em. and i bet their still scraping there. My buddy missed a rack buck over there during muzz, and the same night i was packing my climber up in front of the tree i came down from and i guess a deer came up on me got starteld and took off. Never did see the deer, but when i was in the tree i dumped out two bottles of doe eustis all over the place. To this day i kick myself for not staying in the stand for 10 more minutes.

I'll show you the spot if ya want. I may be wrong, but I think the deer in there start rutting right about muzz... not sure how long it is till gun after that, but i think it might be a good spot for ya. If your interested let me know ill P.M. you the location, and i dont mind taking you down there and showing it to you if you want.

I have hunted it for a couple of years. I have some pretty good areas lined up. But the more the merrier. I do know you do not need a quota to archery hunt there. The only drawback is that you cannot shoot does. At any rate the rut there varies but I would agree it is usually fairly early.......Thanks for the offer we'll maybe hook up during archery. I will be hunting Hilochee opening weekend, but will be in Church Lake the second weekend. My father in law lives on the edge of Ocala National Forest.

Your sh***ing in high cotton Scott. From who I talked with, you either got multiple permits or nothing. Maybe this new system is preference point heavy? Looks like I will be at JC, least I got somewhere to go that is only 20 mins from the house. Things could be worse. Might try to get to Jimbo's in GA for some good ole' fashion mangling LOL

Scott, I don't hunt in the forest anymore. the hogs are few and far between and jumper creek is a lot closer. Also I've had 3 stands stolen up there. one from hopkins prairie and 2 from church lake the two from church lake was my fault for not chaining them up. and the one at hopkins they cut the chain. There are a lot of crooked a$$holes in the forest. The area I was talking about before is over there by the cemetary. You could check it out for archery, but stay away from that spot on the weekend. Last year some dog hunters decided to designate a spot on the main road by there their party spot. They sit out there drinking their beer and just watch the road... dunno if they will be back this year. I thought since you had a gun permit there might not be as many around. Its a jam up spot though I seen deer down there just about every time I went down there. Just to bad you can't shoot does. But with all them does theirs sure to be a buck around, just gotta be in the right spot at the right time. Maybe you can get the buck I was after that hit the same scrape 3 yrs in a row. was 2 to 3 feet in diameter. also it was the same scrape I was setup on when I got out of my stand early. Let me know when you got some time and ill meet you down there.

Tim, we should get some ninja headbands made that say "Jumper Creek Grinders" on them. Only the true Swampers will rock 'em, and everyone will know what's up when we mob deep with that crew in the Bear Island lot:D
