What is your favorite bullet for deer hunting in your area?

The deer in Oklahoma are not huge compaired to some other states, the average buck is around 200 pounds walking around, I like to kill them quik and clean, I shoot a .308 with a 150 grain softpoint, I am parcial to remington so thats what I shoot.
Usually drops them in there tracks, have had a few run 50 yards or so, but have never had one go missing after getting hit with the .308.

I head shot a doe in Texas last year, wow what a mess.

I love the Hornady SST Light Mags for my .257 Roberts. Nice tight groups, although it can have some serious fragmenting if it hits dense bone(like the shoulder), causing some meat to be wasted.

For my SuperNova I will be using the Brenneke 2-3/4" Black Magics this year. I always stagger my rounds with some 3.5" 00 buckshot from Federal following my first Slug and repeat that pattern.

been using Remington core lokt, im good out to 100 yrds with a 3x9 scope, never gonna get a shot that far where im at. Dropped a pig last year where it stood. I shot her in the mouth and never did find an exit wound. she was facing me. looked like some fragments hit some ribs...

That must have been a tough pill for that pig to swallow! :D

LOL, yeah. She never knew what hit her. She was still intact besides the broken jaw

I am still laughing about your story, my dad did a similar thing a couple of years ago and shot a deer running right at him and the bullet went all the way through and blew the butt hole right out! Really Gross but your story reminded me about it.

The Hornady SST's in my 7600 30-06 are absolutely awesome. The accuracy and carnage they create for the price is amazing! I'm looking into some 200gr. Accubonds for my .35 Whelen 7600 as well.
