I got mine set at 20 30 and 40. Wish i had a couple more pins. I got out and shot today before the rain came. Im doing good at 20 and 30. 40 could be better. I think i need some new arrows. Some wanna hit where i aim at and some dont. I dont think we will get more than a 30 yard shot at JC. Unless one pops out on the trail or something.

JC is a close-range engagement environment...All we probably need in there is a 20 yard pin. All the gobblers I have shot in there have been at 15 yards or less.

I was just thinking today about trying my luck on some turkeys when archery starts. Theres lots of hens in there. I heard the kee kee run on a trumpet type call was good during the fall. Gonna have to get me a trumpet call.

Theres a nice oak hammock where im at that you could get some 30 40 yrd shots if you can catch em. Ive seen some does in there and hogs when the acorns start dropping.

It's funny that you should say that, the shot I had the hardest time with in qualifying yesterday, was the 12yd standing buck! I kept hitting him high b/c my top pin is set for 25yds for this event. I pulled an 8 and a 10 off of him, which I was scred would shut me out, but I picked up a couple 12's from the far shots. It was a long agonizing wait today, to find out if I made the cut for tomorrow or not, but I got the confirmation tonight at 8:30, that I did, and will be back at Bass Pro Sunday morning at 10am to go for it!

Chad,

Let the arrows fly and the winner will be left standing. Good luck!!

The sword sight has to go back to them, the windage bracket is not straight...when mounted to the bow the sight ring hangs down to the left..good grief..I heard that their CS is great, but another delay in the process....no string and the sight has to go back....looks like I should have started getting this all together more like in April than July:mad:

Thanks Paul!!! I'm not used to a sight w/ this must adjustability...Got it figured out. (I'm loosing my mind today) The other bolts closer to the riser on the sight lossen and the sight can be pulled out kinda like a door hinge--is this for the 3rd axis? I'm very happy with the sight bu the way.

Tim

Just got back from the Madness. I am pretty proud of myself, I will say. I didn't win, but I was right near the top three at the end, in the mix with the Pro's and defeated a couple of them in the process. I acomplished three of my four goals: 1.Win the whole thing, 2.Make the cut for the Finals,3. Beat a Mathews sponsored shooter, and 4. Beat a certain Bowtech Pro. All in all, it was a fantastic day, and I thank all who wished me well! I really wish you guys could have come down and shot in this event, it was a blast fo' sho!

Do they got you tied to those posts? Congrats on achieving your goals. Maybe you will take the whole thing next year.

Thanks Sam,

All shooters had to wear a HSS vest while shooting, to make it more authentic and b/c they are a sponsor of the event. The speed that you had to shoot was crazy, and intense. There was a crowd of people behind the shooters going nuts. I went into some kind of trance, where it all went quiet, and the targets slowed down. The show must go on, and I will be back in action in a Fortnight(two weeks) shooting some non-moving 3D's in a more traditional shoot. I just need to bring the same rage with me to that event:D

Thanks Paul, it really was fun. They are supposed to be at all three Big Buck Expo's next year as well, so that adds Jax, and Lakeland to the mix. You def. need to get in there and Grind it out! It added new elements to the mix that make it different. Beyond yardage estimation, and general accuracy, the addition of timing: looking for the next random target, while getting an arrow out of your hip quiver(without dropping it, which leads to lost points) nocked properly and your release hitched up gives you something you can practice at home with your quiver and bow. It gives more elements to dive deeper inside of,in the awesome journey that archery is:)

Also, the sound of two competitors arrows hitting each other in the 12ring shot after shot gets addicting, especially when the competitor in question told everyone before the tournament he is going to walk all over your grave in the finals, IF you even make the finals...:D

The shortest was a McKenzie sneeking doe at 14 1/2 yds, and the farthest was a Mckenz Xtreme series Large Buck at 29yds. There was also a Bedded buck, an Antelope,Bear,Ram, and a Med Buck all at ranges in between. I sighted in two inches high at 25 yds, and used my top pin all shots. The shortest shot(Sneeking Doe) was the hardest to get right with my set-up, but I just aimed at the spot where I would aim at a real deer, and ended up in the neighborhood of the 10/12 rings

The maximum draw weight allowed is 80 pounds.
Then minimum arrow weight allowed is 5 grains per pound of draw weight.

There is no speed limit, which is good in this format.

The official rules are posted up in the Event thread here on the forum. Nothing real technical equipment wise. The faster, flat shooting bows were the ones you saw towards the end of Sunday.

Here are the bows of the top five
1st PSE X-Force
2nd. Mathews Reezen
3rd Hoyt Alphamax
4th Diamond Iceman
5th Hoyt Powerhawk;)

This was a very diverse field, bow wise and
only six points seperated the top five:eek:

Tim, what size pins does your Sword have?

palmettoswamp

(2) .019 and (2) .010...very happy w/ this set up.
i doubt I would ever use the .010 pins while hunting here in Fl. or GA, but I wanted them to help me with my long distance shooting (40-50 yards). Love this set up andfor some reason, I am more comfortable w/ 4 pins in the guard instead of 5..looks a lot less "busy"

I'm used to shooting with only one pin, on a moveable sight, but I went with a more traditional set up for the competitions. It is hard for me to get comfortable with the three pins I have on the sight, and I already removed two from the original five!
