I have been hot on a big buck up here in Maine for 19 days strong now. I have a stand 80 feet down the trail from a scrape that he keeps very active, just about every night sometimes every other night he will dig in it, keep it fresh and his licking branch has been torn all the way off. He even leaves one giant track in it every time before leaving. The front two hoof marks are around 4" long! I used my middle finger and marked where the prints went under my hand, than I measured the distance at work with a tape measure.
I have no idea how big this deer is but I just can't get him out during shooting hours. So this morning I drove to my hunting location with some Code Blue Buck Urine resting on the defrost heater to get it nice and warm. When I got down into the forest I sprayed a bunch all over the buck's scrape and got up into my stand.
About 10 minutes later I heard all kinds of thrashing 20 yards deep into the thick woods perpendicular to the scrape. I started to get excited because I did not think I would get a response until the following mornings.
My plan is to make him think that he needs to be around in the morning to find this buck instead of just visiting the scrape at night.
Well after the thrashing stopped there was a 30 second pause before what was one of the most aggressive sounds I have heard come from a deer. The Deer found a large tree and started dragging his antlers down it. You could hear the antlers cutting deep into the wood! He repeated the process 3 times, it reminded me of sharpening a knife! I could not believe how ticked off this buck was. I made an aggressive call with the BRAWLER and the deer thrashed around some more. I spent the next hour waiting for the buck to show himself with no luck.
I am going to keep spraying this buck's scrape until I hopefully pull him out of the thick blinding woods for a shot! Saturday is probably my best bet as I won't have to leave the woods to go to work, that should give me the time needed to wait him out!
Until then....

Good luck,Tyson.
If this buck gives you too much trouble towards the end of the season, let me know. I'll send Lanny Benoit your way and he'll help you dig that foolio out of the thick!:D

HAHA! As much as I would love to hunt with any of the Benoits this one is all me! I have worked my butt off for this and hope that all the hard work pays off!
If not, there is always next year and from the looks of this old boy's sign and the sounds he is making I know he is a True Maine Survivor and one heck of a BEAST. Possibly he will give me another chase next year...But Hopefully I will be posting him in the Trophies Section instead of that happening!
Either way I am loving life right now! It has been so exciting chasing one giant buck for almost 3 weeks straight! I can't wait to see him!
And if he is as big as I think he is I just might become part of Maine's Big Buck Club (200+ pounds)! Keeping my fingers crossed and eye on the prize!
Happy Hunting! :D

Tyson, it maybe that buck was mad at you. You said you heard the vocals i sent you on your land and some others never heard that vocal but will keep their ears open for it now. So the deer on your property might also being doing this. The deer at this site might know where your stand is and knew you were in it and thought you were keeping him away from a doe. The reason i say this is that a nice buck was coming near my stand not far from a scrape one year but would not come in and i had my son make a stand about 100 yards away from mine so that he might get a shot. I eased my way up to my blind to play a trick on my son by bleating with the Bleat-In-Heat so that he might hear it and think it was a deer. The joke was on us because as soon as i bleated there were 4 responses from bucks that were watching him make his tree stand. The way i got the buck was to have my son make a lot of noise putting up another blind in an area where it was far enough from mind that the deer could not see me put a blind in another tree by the scrape i was hunting. The next day the buck seeing i was not in my old blind came right in and i harvested him. Not saying it will work for you but might be worth a try if you can get some help with the distraction part.;)

Nice Tip, Thanks Soletitbe. I was thinking that this morning while I sat in my stand at around 20 degrees F, wondering where all the deer had gone....haha.
I was thinking about putting a stand about 100 yards down the ridge I am hunting, in the thickest part where all the noise are coming from. 2 more weeks and I am done. Might have to make this an emergency call and buy a $100 ladder stand that I can easily sneak in with a buddy, tie it to the tree and give me the shot I am hoping for.
Talk soon,
Tyson
