My Majic Stop (POS) layered foam target is almost ready to be bagged up and added to the backstop. I'm in the market for a new target (not a bag target) and was checking out the Rinehart 18-1. I did a quite a bit of research and found almost nothing but good reviews. I'm not really concerned about the 1 yr. warranty, I dont shoot that much to blow thru all 18 sides in 1 yr. My folks get me a Gander Mountain gift card every year and they carry this target in their store. Thanks.

I also got a Rinehart 3-D Turkey target coming soon...gettin' ready for some possible Eastern gobbler bowhunting action this coming spring.

The 18-1 target is a fun target to shoot on occasion, but I got bored with it very easily.

I like shooting a static dot(Block,Black Hole,Etc.) for tuning and set-up, and a 3D target or two when I practice.

The two things I didn't like about the 18-1, was how heavy it was, and how if you hit it near the top or bottom, it would roll, and your arrow would get bodyslammed into either the ground, or a nearby hard object:eek:

Tim, just curious why you dont want a bag target? Keith bought a bag target this year and the arrows come with two fingers every time. Beats the hell out of foam targets IMO.

I want to shoot field tips, fixed blades and mechanicals. The layered foam targets are overpriced and overhyped junk IMO and I will never buy one again.

Chad....do you still have your 18-1 and did you ever shoot it up to pieces?

I heard those BLOB targets are good also...I want something that will last for a longtime....

The 18-1 belongs to a friend of mine. We hit it with a bat and send it to unknown ranges, and shoot at it.

I know what you are saying about the block targets. My favorite so far is the sleeper, Horton layered target. That thing won't die. I got one on clearance at BPS for $18.

The blob may be interesting to try out...

I forgot about not being able to shoot fixed blades in them.

layered foam targets do suck. I've had mine for two about two years now. you gotta open it up every once in a while and rearange the foam. you can only do that a couple times though. Save the foam and shred it up with some old curtains. Then buy a replacement bag to put it in. I dunno what to tell you for fixed blades and mechanicals. they punish the hell out of targets.

Thanks for the 411....dont like the sounds of the blob after what Paul stated. In conclusion, there is no perfect target. I have a very large backstop and dont shoot even a 1/4 of what Paul or Chad shoot in a year, so I leaning towards the 18-1. I'm sick of picking bits and pieces of foam out of the grass..The 18-1 is kinda pricey at $100, but if it lasts it will be money well spent. Guess I will make up my mind when I get to Gander with cash in hand.

Ask if they are selling any pieces of their range backstop. Those HUGE Block targets that they use in the range, come at a very nive price when it's time to replace them.

Don't wear the string and cables out before next season. :P

How big were those foam backstops you got again? I read something about a duckboat made out of foam and fiberglass yesterday. The dude had a weed eater mud motor fitted on it. Seems like it could work. I guess you just shape out the foam how you want it and and fiberglass over it...???

I did a little research and its a little more complicated than that. Gotta use certain kinds of foam sheets.
