LOL Maybe. This dude trades for a living. He's got 9 drumsets, a ton of cymbals, tools, tvs, 13 guitars, a room stacked full of amps and all kinds of other stuff. He's jumped price on me a couple times. He wrote an email and said 75. I said im interested let me see it. He wrote back and said he meant to write a 9 not a 7. When I went over there he said the lowest he could go was 100. I should have took it then. Now he says 120 cause he needs to get something nice for his old lady for valentines day. He just sold a drumset for a grand! He's a cool cat though I've dealed with him before. Just gotta remember there aint no friends when it comes to money. Im gonna hassle him over the 20 dollars when I see him. Its still a good deal though if it shoots.

I picked it up today. Anyone know where to get parts for this thing? I need the butt plate and a front iron sight. The one on it is bent a hair. Also there is two holes right above the ejection port on the top. I dunno if screws go in there or what.

Looks like their is supposed to be screws. Its the same gun as in the link.

I had read that a while back. If I remember right it was on touchups. Im gonna do the whole barrel. Its got a lot of surface rust and some minor pitting. I think I can sand most of it out. The stock has a lot of surface scratches as well as some dents and dings. Some of the dents I won't be able to sand out. is there anything I can fill them with? Its a walnut stock I believe. What kind of finish do you put on a wood stock? a new stock runs 150. Im not gonna be to picky with it but I want it looking nice. Im stoked to have my first semi auto rifle! Im gonna lay down the law this year on some pigs and deer.

It has a fixed rear sight that folds up and down on it right now. I seen another sight for it that's a peep sight that looks adjustable. Its 23 dollars. Im leaning towards a 3x9 scope but am undecided. I think ill have to shoot it first to see how it shoots open sights. I know their not to accurate at longer ranges...

The touch up process can just be extended to do the whole bbl. Just remember to act real fast between stripping and finishing, as the Fl humidity causes ultra quick rusting, and spotting, that will cause you to redo it.

The finish that I like is a hand rubbed linseed oil finish. Birchwood Casey makes a bottle that would do a great job for your riflestock. With a little preperation beforehand, it is like magic watching the wood come to life with a warm glow.

Ill have to read over the blog again. Ill check out that oil also. I been seeing a lot of people using tru oil online. Im thinking about giving that a try maybe. I got some chemicals we use for stripping and brightening wood decks at work. The stripper is awesome. It brings oils right out of the wood. The brightner is insane too. It levels the ph out and readys the wood for staining. You spray the brightner on and the wood turns bright right in front of you. Ill get some pictures of the whole process and put it in the diy section along with what chemicals I used.

I checked out the ruger website and got the breakdown instructions for the rifle. According to the serial numbers it was made/shipped in 1966.
