Steve HeerkensSteve Heerkens, age 41, has been active in the outdoors since he was 4 years-old. His father introduced him to hunting and fishing at this very young age and he has never looked back. Although initially exposed to upland bird hunting, Steve has hunted many species, and traveled the US and Canada in search of: upland birds, waterfowl, whitetail deer, turkey, caribou, black bear, pronghorn, mule deer and mountain goat. He enjoys shooting shotguns, rifles and reading classic sporting literature. Steve lives with his dog, Rue, in the quiet Hamlet of Gravesville, New York, at the southern foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. He is a Wildlife Biologist with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Steve’s responsibilities are primarily focused on black bear and waterfowl management. Steve enjoys traveling and is planning several more hunts in the near future. |
