Having a "wing man"
Having a "wing man" while chasing yotes is always a good idea. One of you can carry a rifle for the long shots and the other a shotgun for the up close and personal work. Coyotes are notorious for sneaking up on hunters and then blasting off to parts unknown when they smell a rat. It can be difficult at best to get on a spooked yote at close range with a scoped rifle. Get a wing man next time you head out for some predator hunting.
Keeping an eye downwind
When chasing coyotes, always try to set up so that you have a commanding view of your downwind side. More times that not the 'yotes are going to try to sneak in from downwind in an attempt to catch the scent of what they are after. If you can't see downwind, chances are you will never even know how many coyotes you called in.
